Beds
When I travel I miss “my bed”. I’ve been traveling quite a lot in the past few years and I usually bring a film camera everywhere I go. Sometime in 2018, without giving it much thought at first, I started to photograph all the beds I slept in, everywhere I went either for work or vacation. Mostly as a way to finish a roll of film before heading home, the project then morphed into something quite dear to me, a ritual before my departures, one last memory of a place before heading home. What more represents the concept of home that your own sleeping place? I’ve slept in airbnbs, friend’s houses, fancy hotels, awful motels, tents, caravans, cabins, student dorms, there’s a bit of everything in here. Some situations barely allowed actual sleeping and some mattresses were so comfortable they were far superior than my own. Most hotels were so impersonal I can barely remember which one was which. All the photos were taken the day of the departure, the slept-in beds left untidy.
This is an ongoing project.
